Choosing Bass and Acoustic Guitar Strings
As a bass or acoustic guitar player you will have to purchase new guitar strings every so often as your strings will stretch and wear out with use. If you are a beginner, you might want to choose acoustic guitar strings that have a string gauge of ten as this is the most common size for playing rock and roll, blues, country and pop music.
Bronze acoustic guitar strings are also called 80/20 bronze because they are made with 80% copper and 20% zinc. These strings can be used for all styles of play and they produce bright sound that fades away quickly after a few hours of playing. Bronze acoustic guitar strings are the most commonly used so consider buying these guitar strings.
The two main types of bass guitar strings are round-wound and flat-wound. The round-wound strings produce bright sounds and they are the most commonly used bass guitar strings for this reason. These strings feel a bit rough due to the grooves they have. Flat-wound bass strings produce more mellow sounds and these strings feel smooth and silky. If you play a lot of rock, you may find that flat-wound strings produce sounds which are too mellow so it is best to stick with round-wound bass guitar strings.
